Eighth Annual International NSVI Vasectomy Ski Seminar
January 22-27, 2023; Frisco, Colorado
by Doug Stein

The Eighth Annual International NSVI Vasectomy Ski Seminar drew a huge crowd of 22 vasectomist participants from 4 countries. Jonathan Stack of World Vasectomy Day beamed in on Zoom for and update on the progress of vasectomy programs worldwide. Many participants doubled as faculty and audience, exchanging data and ideas on a wide range of topics pertaining to the social and technical aspects of vasectomy. While these exchanges were scattered throughout each day on ski lifts, hiking trails, and Frisco's delightful Main Street, the formal didactic sessions took place on select evenings, usually following fine food and wine consumed in the  A8 condo or one of Frisco's many pubs and restaurants. This year was another family-oriented meeting. We had 7 boys ages 12, 11, 9, 8, 8, 6, and 4; and 2 girls age 13, 8; and one miniature poodle age 3.

Standing: Chris Tonozzi (Glenwood Springs, CO), Beata Byczko (Vancouver, BC), Robert Kulik (Warsaw, Poland), Laura & Pablo Pizzi (Santiago, Chile), Martin Kittel (Watford, UK), Paul Evans (Plymouth, UK), Seema Shah (Baltimore, MD), Sarah Miller (Brookline, MA). Doug Stein (Lutz, FL), JB Abano (Seattle WA).
Seated: Michelle Shelly (Goshen, IN), Sarah Demediuk (Melbourne), Karen Williams (Watertown, NY) Matt Delfino and Kelsey McAbee (Greenville, SC), Chirag Patel (Sacramento. CA), John Curington (Lutz, FL), Nick Demediuk (Melbourne), Melanie Savard-Cote and Jean-Francois (St. Eustache, QC), Tim and Danielle Zola (Olympia, WA), Renee Johannensen (West Windsor, VT).

The Keynote Speakers of the Seminar were Mel Cohen and Marty Bastuba (seated) who flew in from San Diego for just one evening to teach the group about sperm storage and the use of stored sperm by men who consider vasectomy early in life. They run the California Sperm Bank (spermbankcalifornia.com), and Dr. Bastuba is a male fertility specialist.
