Most vasectomy candidates know someone who has had a vasectomy. Indeed many are referred by men who have had vasectomies here. Others are referred by their primary care doctors or their wives' gynecologists who in turn have received feedback from other patients. These are up-front referrals and testimonials in themselves.
We invite all patients to come to the Tampa office or any outfield location on any vasectomy day. There, any candidate can speak with vasectomy patients as they leave after their procedures, usually another patient every 15 or 20 minutes, to learn firsthand the answer to the question, "How was it?"
Alternatively, we would be happy to send to you, by postal mail or e-mail, a list of patients, with their phone numbers and/or e-mail addresses, who have had a vasectomy and who have offered to share their experiences with men who are considering vasectomy. To request this list, please see our Visitors Page.

Letter written to John Heilman, MD, Medical Director, Pinellas County Health Department, in 2/04: Dear Sir, In January I had
occasion to be treated by Dr. Stein for a vasectomy. I had been told by Flo
Concklin that the treatment would be mostly painless and over quickly. Never did
she tell me that I would have the pleasure of the most wonderful treatment by a
doctor whom I had never met. Never did she tell me that I would be made to feel
completely at ease. Most certainly, I was not prepared to meet the most
considerate doctor in this entire world. Nor did she tell me that she and all
the others involved in my treatment would make this the most painless event I
would ever go through. You should thank God each day for Dr. Stein and Flo and
put a sweater around their shoulders and pray that they never get a cold and
have to leave you. My bride (of only 19 1/2 years) was there and also was so
very impressed with both of them also. You, Pinellas County and we are blessed
to have them here in our town. |
| Doc, I just wanted to follow-up with you regarding my vasectomy procedure ( I was your 2:45 p.m. on Friday). All things considered, the experience was about as easy/pain-free as I imagine any surgical procedure can be. As an added bonus, it was a pleasure working with you and your assistant (Vivian?), to whom I suggest you consider giving a raise. I appreciated the no-nonsense approach you take to scheduling and performing the procedure and the easy, relaxing atmosphere your office provides. FYI - I fished in a tournament Saturday morning in my small boat and experienced no pain/discomfort. I also had a very active day on Sunday. Bottom line - I have had hangnails that caused me more problems. Assuming the procedure works (the lack of pain makes me suspicious that you really didn't do anything except swab Betadine on one of my favorite body parts!), I would rate the experience as an A+. I had my vasectomy procedure completed around 2 o'clock yesterday (6/22). I was in class when you made the follow-up call. I am happy to report that I have absolutely no residual pain, discomfort, and tenderness and feel I could easily resume any activity I wished, but will wait several more days to ensure the blood vessels repair themselves sufficiently. Even after the procedure, I had minimal discomfort that can be likened to nothing more than a simple bruise on any other part of the body. If I have any questions, I will be sure to call, but I am fully satisfied with every aspect of the experience. I will plan a follow-up in August to ensure success of the procedure. If it would be beneficial, I would agree to act as a referral or provide a better written testimonial. Michael B. |

I
must admit it took me about five years to gather up enough courage to have a
vasectomy. I did some research on the internet and learned about the
No-Scalpel procedure. I learned that no Doctors in my county or
neighboring county do the NSV procedure. Then I discovered Dr. Stein’s
website. I made an appointment for a Saturday Off-site location so I
wouldn’t need to take off of work. My wife accompanied me and can attest
that I was extremely nervous; I am not even good giving blood or having my blood
pressure taken! Dr Stein was absolutely wonderful. The whole
procedure took about fifteen minutes. Dr. Stein talked to me and my wife
with an engaging conversation the entire time and I never felt a thing. He
was gentle, skilled, and personable to boot! We were more impressed that
he called me on Sunday morning to see how I was doing. I relaxed, watched
tv and visited with friends that weekend, returning to work on Monday and no-one
ever knew. My wife and I are enjoying our wonderful relationship without
the fear of pregnancy. Great job Dr. Stein, thank you for your wonderful

| I don’t have any questions, I just wanted
to thank you for the AMAZING job you did for me in 2003. I had heard all the
horror stories, but decided the “snip” was something I had to do. Your site
was very informative, your staff was easy to be around, you were
on-time/quick/professional (something that is seldom said about Dr’s these
days), and maybe most important all was accomplished with a refreshing sense
of humor. Plus it was cheap! My painless procedure (and it REALLY was) was done on Friday afternoon, I rested that day, took it easy on Saturday, and played 18 holes of golf on Sunday. No pain, no bruises, no bleeding. I couldn’t be any more satisfied. I’ve told all my friends who are in the market that it would be worth flying into Tampa just to have you perform the procedure. | I recently had a vasectomy by Dr. Stein and I was so nervous. I have had bad experiences with doctors in general, especially here in Fla. Dr. Stein, on the other hand, was not an egotist, nor did he treat me like a lot of other doctors do. He listened to my questions and answered them with patience and understanding. He made me feel comfortable and before I knew it, it was over. I had no pain or discomfort afterwards and Dr. Stein even called me the next day, to see how I was. | Sometimes I get an "achey" feeling in my scrotum. I don't know exactly why, however it's not enough to bother with. Maybe the frequency of sex or longevity? Don't know Don't care. |

| I was super nervous about this. I remember almost chikening out in the waiting room - my heart was racing like I jumped out of a plane. I told myself shit you better calm down because I new I wouldn't come back if I didn't get this done now. I also figured the procedure couldn't be done if I was that nervous. This was right after I took a pill. I calmed myself down. The doc got me on the table & talked a little & turned on some music & after a few minutes I started to think i better brace my self because I haven't hurt yet & then he said he was done. Wow! No worries so far Doug. :-) You know what's ironic though? One of my buddies had a vasectomy last Friday as well. Not the NSV procedure but a traditional one. He was even put to sleep! He was laid up in bed and on the couch all weekend. I was up and about on Saturday and even went to see a movie. LOL Guess that's proof in the pudding that the NSV recovery time is much shorter than a traditional one, in addition to not as painful. :-D I'm glad I did some research and decided to have the NSV done. |

This is just a follow up to the procedure you performed on me
last Friday, March 6. I am originally from
Alabama, I have had several friends and relatives that has had this
procedure performed on them. From the information I gathered from them, it
would make you think twice. Soreness, a little swelling and out of work for
a week and the list goes on. Well I can truly say that the experience that I had in your office and during the procedure was not at all like anything I mentioned above. It has been a couple of days now and I have not had any kind of tenderness or problems from your perfected procedure. I want to say THANK YOU to you and the Ladies in the office for the kind and professional treatment I received, most of all the day after personal phone call to check on me.
