Vasectomy in Sarasota, Florida:

Sarasota County Health Department

    Title X (Ten) coverage of vasectomy services is available for low-income men on a sliding scale. Vasectomy services are provided under contract with Planned Parenthood at the PP Sarasota facility on Central Avenue. (1) A financial screening visit to one of the three county health department clinics is the first step. (2) Eligible men are then seen at Planned Parenthood in Sarasota for counseling. (3) At least 30 days after the counseling visit, the vasectomy is performed at Planned Parenthood. Partner consent is not necessary. Planned Parenthood will also provide each vasectomy patient with a mailer to send in a semen sample so that a return trip to the clinic is not necessary.

If you decide to proceed, you may have your vasectomy at Planned Parenthood, but you must wait at least 30 days after the counseling visit to be eligible for the Title 10 assistance.

Vasectomies are performed by Dr. Doug Stein on a regular basis per his "Outfield Schedule". Procedure scheduling is done through Dr. Stein's Tampa office. Your counselor at PP can call his office (813-972-1365) to get a date and time for you to return to PP for your procedure.

If you ARE NOT eligible for assistance, you may still have your vasectomy at Planned Parenthood for a fee of $490 (details are on our dedicated Sarasota PP page). A separate counseling visit is not required. Counseling is done online by reviewing Dr. Stein's Vasectomy Page and by watching his counseling video. A 30-day wait is not required.
