Vasectomy in
Wauchula,
Florida:
|

|

|
The
Hardee County Health Department
has a wonderful vasectomy program and may
have
Title X funding available for
vasectomy. Their
funds are awarded based on a sliding scale. You must be over 21
years old and wait 30 days after a consultation before you can have your
procedure. Counseling and financial screening are
done in the main health department clinic at 115 K D
Revell Road in Wauchula, Florida 33873.
Vasectomy services are then provided by
Dr. Doug Stein at the
Health Department on certain "Vasectomy Days" (see
schedule), at
Dr. Stein's office
in Tampa, or at Planned Parenthood in
Lakeland.
To check the status of the
Hardee
vasectomy program or to make an appointment,
please call
(863) 773-4161
Ext. 140
(If
the staff is not helpful, or if you leave a message and do not receive a
return call within 24 hours, please call
813-972-1365 for assistance.) |
| The Hardee
County Health Department is located at the
intersection of US 17 and K.D. Revell Road about one mile north of
downtown
Wauchula. |

If Title X funds are not available in Hardee County
(they sometimes run out toward the end of
the July 1 - June 30 fiscal year), Hardee
residents (or any Florida residents for that matter) may want to consider
applying for assistance through the
health department of a nearby county such as
Hillsborough,
Sarasota, Manatee,
or Polk. |
|
If you do not
qualify for assistance, you may still have your vasectomy at the
Health Department by Dr. Stein 30 or more days after a counseling visit for a fee of
$400. If use of the Health Department
service seems too
cumbersome logistically (need for two visits separated in time by at least
30 days), you may have your vasectomy performed by Dr.
Stein at his Tampa office or at Planned
Parenthood in Lakeland or
Sarasota for a fee of
$490. |
